Prof. Dr. Selami Kuran is a partner at Inter-Case Law Firm and serves as the Chair of the Public Law Department and International Law Division at the Faculty of Law, Marmara University. In addition, he holds the position of Chair of the European Union Law Department at Marmara University’s European Union Institute.

Prof. Dr. Kuran completed his undergraduate and doctoral studies at the University of Zurich and specialized in European Union Law in 1994 at the University of London under the Jean Monnet Scholarship program. He began his academic career at Marmara University Faculty of Law in 1992, where he assumed leadership roles in the International Law, Maritime Law, and European Union Law departments, overseeing their academic and administrative operations. Between 2020 and 2022, he served as the founding dean of Boğaziçi University Faculty of Law, playing a pivotal role in its establishment and development.

A member of the Istanbul Bar Association, Prof. Dr. Kuran also serves as an academic advisor to the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is the author of the widely recognized book International Maritime Law, now in its eighth edition, and has published numerous articles in respected academic journals on topics such as International Law and European Union Law.

Prof. Dr. Kuran’s areas of expertise include Public International Law, European Union Law, Maritime Law, International Trade Law, International Contract Law, Maritime and Transport Law, Dispute Resolution (with a focus on international arbitration), Competition Law, Compliance and Risk Management, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), and Public Procurement and Administrative Law. His comprehensive expertise enables him to provide in-depth analyses and solutions to Turkey’s international legal issues and the legal aspects of the European Union’s internal market.
